Man Utd v Arsenal

Another early start for the Ashfield boys on Wednesday 5th December as Mrs Duffield, Mr Irvine and Mr Selhim accompanied 21 boys to head off to watch Manchester United versus Arsenal at Old Trafford, Manchester.

A smooth sailing from Belfast to Cairnryan was followed by a long 5 hour drive down to Manchester which thankfully was bisected for an hour at Gretna for a much needed stretch of the legs and bite to eat.

After a quick stop at the hotel to leave our belongings everyone was swiftly transported to the Trafford Centre again for some refreshments in preparation for the big game and the excitement that ensued.

20:00, the match began, and not before long did the goals follow.

The 7 Arsenal fans hid amongst the rest of the Ashfield crowd when their own team scored and hid behind their hands when Man Utd scored and there was enough action on the field and in the stands to keep everyone entertained. A 2-2 draw meant everyone came away from Old Trafford happy.

The following day, after a hearty buffet breakfast, we were escorted to the National Football Museum in Manchester for a wonderful experience of all things football throughout the times from its humble beginnings as an amateur sport to the multi-billion pound entertainment business that it is today. A quick pit stop for lunch followed before the arduous journey back to Cairnryan for the 19:30 ferry back to Belfast.

An incredible trip for all involved. Well done boys!
