Our Christmas Carol Service 2017

On Friday 15th December 2017 was our annual Christmas Carol Service at Belmont Presbyterian Church. What a wonderful morning it was! It was great to see boys, staff, friends and family all gathered together for this special occasion. Well done to our readers, choir and band who were all superb.

Prize Day 2017

On Friday 27th October 2017, we had our annual Prize Giving distribution.  Our prize winners received their awards in recognition of their achievements from our honoured guest, former Ashfield Boy and professional footballer, Stuart Elliot.

Belfast Senior Cup Champions!

On Thursday 4th May 2017, Ashfield Boys’ High School went up against Laurelhill in the Belfast Senior Cup U16s Final @ Seaview.

What an occasion it was!  The sun was shining and our boys were ready!

The boys went on to win the game 3-1 with goals from Ross Weatherup, Ross Ferguson and a wonder strike from Adam Bolton.

HUGE congratulations to the lads and a big well done to their coach Mr Spence.

Spring Online Event – Celebrating Our Success

During the month of February, over four sessions, 9 boys in year 12 had the opportunity to team up with Linking Generations NI, Barclays & Belfast City Council to take part in the ‘Digital Age Partnership Project’. The aim of the project was simple – to help our older citizens within our community with their IT skills and how to operate effectively and safely online.

Colour Run 2017

On Friday 7th April Ashfield Boys’ first colour run took place at Inverary pitches. Roughly 320 pupils took part in the event along with teachers and support staff. Online Reputation and Protection Event

On Thursday 6 April 2017, 15 boys from across year 10 had the opportunity to attend an “Online Reputation & Protection Event” at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown, hosted by Wayne Denner, a Digital Ninja. Wayne is a digital entrepreneur who has worked in the digital sector for the likes of BBC, UTV and leading industry experts in the Middle East.

Digital Youth Event 2017

Twenty year 10 boys had the pleasure of attending the Digital Youth Event 2017 in partnership with South Belfast Partnership Board and Digital South.

The morning started with Michael Graham, Chair of South Belfast Partnership Board, welcoming all schools and students to the event.  This was shortly followed by some key speeches from leading industry experts from the likes of Deloitte and Fujitsu.

Digital Project – Inverary Community Centre

Ashfield Boys’ teamed up with Belfast City council, Barclays bank and Linking Generations to take part in a digital age project. This took place over four weeks starting on the 8th of February. Cross Community Cup

It was a fantastic occasion at our Year 8 Cross-Community Cup on Friday (24th February). Co-ordinated by Mr Millar and Mr Spence, we welcomed teams from Boys Model, Abbey College, Our Lady & St Patrick’s, Parkhall College and Ballyclare Secondary.

The boys had a great time! Ashfield ended up winning… well done Mr Tumelty and his team!

The Grand National Trophy

We had the pleasure of welcoming the Grand National Trophy on Tour.  Rhys Jenkins, Year 9 Student Council representative, had the honour of unveiling the new trophy to our Year 9 pupils.

This is the first time a Northern Irish company have sponsored this annual event and the Randox team shared their message of preventive health and informed us more on the work that they do.  A unique experience for everyone!
