Ashfield Boys’ at the National Schools Formula 1 Finals

The boys aka ‘Buckle Up’ came first in the Northern Ireland Regional Finals. They got awards for having the fastest car and for coming first overall. They have been invited by F1 in Schools to represent their country in the National Finals. The team consisted of :

Ashfield Boys’ Visit Bombardier

Ashfield Boys’ Visit Bombardier

 

Ashfield Boys’ High School were the first official school Visitors to Bombardiers wing factory at Queen’s Island in East Belfast. The wings are made using carbon-fibre composite technology developed by Bombardier engineers in Northern Ireland. The wings, once made, are transported to Montreal to become part of the C-series jetliner.

Moving Image Arts Students animation shown as part of the MIA Showcase at the QFT

Ashfield Boys’ High School student Shannon Cruz was one of a select few chosen from 1,500 students in Northern Ireland to exhibit her Moving Image Art animation. This was shown on the big screen at the Queens Film Theatre, Belfast, on Wednesday 27th November as part of the Annual Moving Image Showcase.

9A2 visited Belfast Islamic Centre on Thursday 21st November 2013 as part of their CRED project ‘Exploring Religious Diversity in Northern Ireland’ with Little Flower Girls.  They enjoyed learning about the five pillars of practice in Islam and developed their understanding of the Muslim faith.

Art and Design AS & A2 Students visit the RUA

On Friday 15th November the Year 13 and 14 Art and Design pupils attended the Royal Ulster Academy Exhibition at the UlsterMuseum.

The RUA exhibition had over 260 works on show in a variety of artistic media from oil paintings to photography.  This gave the A level pupils an opportunity to see the work of a range of artists and make connections with their own projects.

Year 9 pupils were involved in an animation workshop in conjunction with Belfast City council to bring about awareness of the impact of litter on people and places. This workshop gave the pupils an opportunity to experience new ICT skills and techniques.
